In an interview with Czech daily iDNES.cz, Balázs Jarábik examines the confrontation between Mykhailo Fedorov and Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi as more than a personnel dispute: it exposes competing approaches to how Ukraine should fight and manage an increasingly difficult war.
Jarábik highlights the tension between Fedorov’s push for technological innovation, military reform and greater efficiency, and the more traditional command structure represented by Syrskyi. Yet Ukraine’s fundamental problem cannot be solved by technology or another reshuffle alone: the army remains constrained by manpower shortages, coercive mobilisation and the cumulative pressures of a prolonged war.
