In his column, Jarábik looks at the impact of expiration of the New START treaty. After its expiry,  the United States has resumed strategic - primarily nuclear - and military-to-military contacts with Russia. This shift is significant because Ukraine and its European allies had assumed that Washington would maintain “strategic discipline” - refraining from normalizing dialogue with Moscow without progress on ending the war.
